Dong-Ping Wong, Founding Director

Dong-Ping Wong started FOOD in 2018 after co-founding Family with Oana Stanescu in 2010. Dong is also a co-founder of Friends of + POOL, the world’s first water-filtering floating pool for New York City and one of the largest crowd funded civic projects in the world. Dong's work has been featured in publications including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, PIN-UP, Fast Company, the Economist and Wired and has been awarded the Diamond Award for Engineering Excellence, the New York Design Award for Best Young Practice and was nominated for the INDEX Awards in Copenhagen. Prior to FOOD, Dong worked as a designer at OMA and REX in New York and EHDD in San Francisco, specializing in public, cultural, and hi-density mixed-use buildings. Dong has taught at Columbia University and is a frequent public speaker including talks at RISD, UCLA, the New Museum, Municipal Art Society, Oslo Design Council, AIGA, TedX and the World Summit on Innovation. Dong graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University and a Bachelors of Arts in Architecture from the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. Dong is from San Diego.

Cass Nakashima, Associate

Cass joined the office in 2015 and has been the Project Lead on a 30,000sf health and social club in Tribeca, new galleries for Milk Studios, renovation of Need Supply Co. flagship, residences for Kanye and Kim Kardashian West in Los Angeles and the Services Building of + POOL. She was also a Senior Designer for a new Bauhaus Museum in Dessau, Germany and three homes in the Kau Tau Shan region of Hong Kong. Prior to FOOD, Cass was a designer at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in New York. She holds a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. Cass is from Oakland.

Jesse Taylor, Project Lead

Jesse joined the office in 2015 and has been the Project Lead on Off-White stores in Tokyo, Singapore and New York, a new community church in the Sydhavnen neighborhood of Copenhagen and the new Bauhaus Museum in Dessau, Germany. Prior to FOOD, Jesse gained New York experience at DFA Architects and Huff+Gooden, and was a designer at Hassell Studio in Perth, Australia. Jesse earned a Master’s in Architecture at the University of Western Australia and University of Arizona, and a Bachelor’s of Environmental Design at UWA. Jesse is from Perth.

Bella Janssens, Studio Manager

Bella joined the office in 2017 and is in charge of all studio operations, including general office management, finances, project control and business development. Prior to FOOD, Bella gained experience as a designer and project manager at Inside Outside in Amsterdam and managed a couture studio in New York. Bella earned a Bachelor’s of Architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, United Kingdom. Bella is from the Netherlands.
